we talked 'bout the short-staffing at some customer and the question was how to help them recruit enough people

I found it interesting and spent quite some time to think 'bout it, until big boss asked this

"well, say we manage to staff enough people, how do you plan to train all of them after that, it's a lot ?"

To jump in and solve issue is much easier than to step back first. Hence this post, as a reminder.
