People recently ask me about the product roadmap and while this is not a complete list, they're what I see as must-have in an e-commerce company

Product/Tech must enable the company to do the following stuffs

1. Business as usual

This means customer can use our website to buy stuffs

This means orders are received, processed and shipped out

This means customers are supported by our staff

This means we collect and keep the relevant data for accounting purpose

2. Do things in a better way

This means customer can use our website to buy stuffs easily

This means orders are received, processed and shipped out in a timely manner

This means customers are supported by our friendly staff

This means we collect and keep the valid relevant data for accounting purpose

3. Do things in a measurable way

This means customer can use our website to buy stuffs easily. And we can quantify how easy it is.

This means orders are received, processed and shipped out in a timely manner. And we can quantify how on-time they are.

This means customers are supported by our friendly staff. And we can quantify how satisfied they feel.

This means we collect and keep the valid relevant data for accounting purpose. And we can quantify how accurate they are.

4. Do things in an intelligent way

This means customer can use our website to buy stuffs easily. We can quantify how easy it is. We can guess and show them what they want.

This means orders are received, processed and shipped out in a timely manner. We can quantify how on-time they are. We can guess when the deliver will take place and let our customer know.

This means customers are supported by our friendly staff. We can quantify how satisfied they feel. We can guess what they most ask about and best prepare for it.

This means we collect and keep the valid relevant data for accounting purpose. We can quantify how accurate they are. We can guess what the problems/opportunities are there in the data.

And this is not sequential. We don't need to wait for 1, 2 and 3 done to start thinking about 4. Plan ahead :)
